requently Asked Questions
Where can I recycle CFL bulbs?
It's very important that while you attempt to save energy by using CFL's, you continue to save the Earth by recycling your bulbs – rather than disposing them. For more information on recycling CFLs please visit www.lamprecycle.org or call 1-800-378-6998. Find the nearest recycling location near you, visit www.earth911.com or call 1-800-CLEANUP.
Do you have any presentations describing the use and impact of CFLs?
Yes, we have a video that first explains the impact of using coal for electric power generation, and the amount of pollution and mercury the production of coal puts into our environment. CFLs use less power and thereby help to reduce the need for coal generated power. Fischer-Ridge also has a video presentation available to fundraising groups to explain the value of using CFLs in place of incandescent bulbs. Please request it when starting your fundraiser.
If we do a Fischer-Ridge Green Fundraiser, are there costs in addition to light bulbs for resale?
No, Fischer-Ridge provides all information and downloadable information including order forms, envelopes and bags for making product distribution by your group. We fully manage the mechanics of your organization’s purchase of light bulbs and subsequent resale at a profit.
Are we subject to sales tax?
If your group is a 501c3 non-profit there is no sales tax applied.
Are we obligated for freight costs of our bulb orders?
If your group sells 350 packages of bulbs or more, all ground freight charges are paid by Fischer-Ridge.
How long does it take to get our bulbs?
Usually 7-10 days after your order and payment is sent to Fischer-Ridge.
How are the bulbs packaged?
Bulbs are sold in sturdy double weight packaging (no cello windows). Sellers do not handle individual bulbs or bulbs in inadequate packaging.
How do I get a replacement for a bulb that doesn’t work?
The bulb manufacturer TCP in Ohio makes replacements directly to consumers of the TCP bulbs that are within the warranty period. Warranty information is provided to the customer in the bulb package.
If we have an "incentive" or prize program for outstanding sellers of CFL bulbs, how do the sellers get credit for online sales?
Our online ordering has a place to identify the selling representative or student and to give them credit for the online sale. Paper order forms have a space for the name of the seller.
Can you help our organization identify prizes for outstanding sales or student participation?
Yes, we would be happy to assist you in identifying prizes and rewards for your chosen contest winners.
Can we order larger quantities of bulbs for sales at a special event?
Yes, Fischer-Ridge can assist you in determining quantities for selling CFLs at a special event and delivering those quantities for “point of purchase” sales at the event.
